In its ongoing efforts to promote the use of Hindi at the United Nations (UN), the Government of India presented a check for $1,169,746 to the UN’s Department of Global Communications (DGC), on June 26, 2024.

The check was handed over by Charge d’Affaires and Deputy Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations, R Ravindra, to DGC’s Director and Officer In-Charge (News and Media Division), Ian Philips.

The ‘Hindi @ UN’ project launched in 2018, in collaboration with the UN Department of Public Information, aims to increase the United Nations’ outreach in Hindi, and raise awareness about global issues among Hindi speakers worldwide.

India has supported this initiative by partnering with DGC since 2018, providing extra-budgetary funds to Hindi news and multimedia content.

Since its inception, the UN News in Hindi has been available on the UN’s website

https://news.un.org/hi/, Twitter @UninHindi, Instagram – unitednationshindi, and a UN Facebook Hindi page. A weekly Hindi audio bulletin, UN Radio is released and accessible on both the UN News website and Soundcloud – UN News-Hindi.
