The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of India, has announced the 79th edition of the Know India Programme (KIP), a special initiative for foreign journalists of Indian origin working abroad.

According to a press statement from the Consulate General of India in New York, the 21-day program will run from November 24 to December 13, 2024. It is open to journalists aged 21 to 35 and provides a unique opportunity to witness the remarkable progress of a self-reliant India, also known as Atmanirbhar Bharat.

“Participants will witness the rapid developments across diverse sectors as part of India’s journey toward becoming a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047. The programme also facilitates professional networking, allowing them to connect with fellow journalists in India and engage in discussions about the evolving media landscape,” noted the statement. “During their stay, participants will visit historical places of interest, explore India’s rich and diverse cultural traditions, and strengthen their connection with their ethnic roots.”

The statement highlights that journalists will have the opportunity to gain an early preview of the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, scheduled for January 2025 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Their participation will help disseminate information about this significant event to PIOs, OCIs, and NRIs across the globe.

Participants will only be responsible for 10 per cent of their airfare, making this an exceptional opportunity.
