US President Donald Trump declared that the United States was entering a new “golden age,” citing what he described as record investment inflows, a resurgence in manufacturing and growing international confidence in the American economy, as the country prepared to mark the 250th anniversary of its independence.
Speaking at Mount Rushmore on the eve of Independence Day celebrations, Trump said the United States had reversed years of decline and was experiencing unprecedented economic momentum under his administration.
“Our country today is doing better than it’s ever done before. Never had anything like it,” Trump said, claiming that “$19.2 trillion” was flowing into the United States from around the world.
He contrasted the figure with previous administrations, arguing that investment levels had surged since his return to office.
Trump credited his tariff policies and electoral victory for encouraging companies to expand production in the United States.
“Thanks to our great election win, November 5th, and the tariffs, plants and factories are being built all over the United States right now,” he said. “They’re being built at a number that we’ve never, ever seen before.”
The president said automobile manufacturing, which he argued had stagnated for decades, was seeing renewed growth.
“We have more plants under construction than we’ve had ever before. Automobile plants, something you didn’t see at all for 35 years,” he said.
Trump also highlighted America’s history of innovation, describing the country as the force behind many of the technologies that shaped the modern world.
“We are the nation that dreamed and created the modern world,” he said, citing inventions and advancements ranging from the light bulb and telephone to the internet, GPS technology and breakthroughs in medicine and nuclear science.
He said the United States had built “the biggest and most dynamic economy,” maintained “the strongest, the most powerful military,” and remained a global leader in scientific research, entertainment and sports.
Trump argued that America’s standing abroad had improved significantly. “Two years ago they laughed at us. Now it’s only respect,” he said. “Everybody respects us.”
Looking ahead, Trump said the country’s strongest years were still ahead. “The best is yet to come,” he said.
Linking the nation’s 250th anniversary to what he called a new era of prosperity, Trump said: “This is not an ending. This is only the beginning of the golden age of America. Together we will make America bigger, better, and stronger than ever before.”
The speech was part of nationwide events commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
The White House has used the milestone to highlight American history, economic achievements and national identity through a series of events leading up to Independence Day.
In the same address, Trump reaffirmed his commitment to protecting constitutional freedoms, saying the principles on which the United States was founded remained central to its identity.
“We must never forget there is no American freedom without American culture. And there is no American founding without the American people,” he said.
Trump argued that the Constitution’s strength ultimately depended on the citizens who upheld it.
“A constitution is only as strong as the people and the culture responsible for upholding it,” he said. “As long as we remember who we are and what we’re all about, the United States of America will forever be the land of free men and women.”
He described freedom of speech, religious liberty and gun ownership as defining pillars of American democracy.
“In America, we do not need anyone’s permission to say what we think and to live as we please, to worship as we choose, or to keep and bear arms,” Trump said.
The president also pledged to continue defending the Second Amendment, saying, “I will continue to do so, I promise.”
“Our rights here are given to us by the God who made us, and those rights shall not be infringed,” he added.
Trump linked those freedoms to broader American values, including self-reliance, fairness, family and equal treatment under the law.
“We treasure justice, fairness, family, honesty and human dignity,” he said.
He also stressed the importance of maintaining peace while remaining prepared to confront threats.
“An American always wants peace and order, but we will never shrink from danger or threat. We will always fight, fight, fight and win, win, win,” Trump said.
Urging Americans to remain united, Trump said, “You do not have to be born here, but you do have to love what we have built. You must love our country. There has never been anything like us anywhere on earth and we are not going to let anyone take that away.”
