The Indian Cultural Association of Howard County (ICA) will host its eighth annual Festival of India on September 19 and 20, 2026, at the Howard County Fairgrounds, Maryland. The event will celebrate “Indian heritage, American diversity, and the countless stories that have shaped the nation.”
The festival has been named Best Festival in Howard County for four consecutive years in The Baltimore Sun’s Best of Howard poll, according to a statement from ICA.
This year’s theme, “250 Years, Countless Stories, One America!” commemorates the 250th anniversary of the United States by highlighting the cultures, traditions, experiences and contributions that have strengthened the country. The event will also mark the 80th anniversary of India’s independence.
The Festival of India has grown into one of Howard County’s largest and most anticipated cultural celebrations. It brings together thousands of residents and visitors for two days of music, dance, art, food, cultural traditions, community engagement and family activities.
“America’s story is not one story; it is millions of stories woven together,” said Sanjay Srivastava, founder and president of the Indian Cultural Association. “As we celebrate 250 years of America, we are proud to share the Indian American story and celebrate the values that unite us: community, opportunity, service, diversity, and belonging.”
The festival will showcase the diversity of Indian culture while recognizing the contributions of Indian Americans to Maryland and the United States in education, medicine, technology, business, science, the arts, public service and community leadership.
The event will also offer people from all backgrounds an opportunity to experience Indian culture and build connections across communities.
“The Festival of India is about bringing people together. It is a reminder that we can proudly celebrate where we come from while embracing the shared values and experiences that connect us as Americans,” said Niti Srivastava, executive director of the Indian Cultural Association.
ICA was established to promote Indian heritage and culture while fostering understanding, inclusion, civic engagement and community service. Through cultural festivals, educational programs, community initiatives and partnerships, the organization seeks to bring people together and strengthen communities across Howard County and Maryland.
