Indian origin doctor shot and killed in Tuscaloosa, Alabama

Dr. Ramesh Babu Peramsetty, a 63-year-old Indian-origin doctor, was reportedly shot and killed on August 23, 2024, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. 

Dr. Peramsetty was a founder and the medical director of the Crimson Care network, where his contributions to healthcare were widely recognized. 

He specialized in Emergency and Family Medicine, played a pivotal role during the COVID-19 pandemic, and was honored with a street named after him in Tuscaloosa.

The Crimson Care team shared their condolences on Facebook and requested privacy for Dr. Peramsetty’s family. They assured the community that the clinics would continue operating without interruption and that more statements would follow. 

Dr. Peramsetty, was a graduate of the Medical College of Wisconsin and Sri Venkateswara Medical College in Tirupati. 

He is survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters, all living in the United States.
