The Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies (FIIDS) successfully concluded its two-month summer internship program on Civic Engagement and Leadership on August 24, 2024.
The program, which started on June 16, was tailored for high school juniors, seniors, and undergraduates, focusing on skills in event organizing, research, public policy, and civic engagement.
A total of 46 students participated, learning about American politics, the U.S. lawmaking process, elections, international relations, and world affairs. The students interacted with prominent experts, including Ohio State Senator Niraj Antani and other distinguished professionals in communications and government relations. The program ended with a Culmination Ceremony where Lalit Jha delivered the keynote address.
The program’s success was credited to key figures such as FIIDS President Khanderao Kand, Program Director Prasad Koranne, and several curriculum designers and mentors.
Kand expressed gratitude for the support and emphasized the program’s role in empowering students to become future leaders in civic life and public service.
