Kiara Advani is set to represent India at the prestigious MET Gala on May 5, marking her debut at fashion’s greatest event. She will step onto the grand fashion stage and this moment will be a significant milestone in her personal and professional journey, symbolizing her beauty and strength.
The MET Gala, known for its celebration of artistry and cultural significance, will now feature Kiara, whose influence continues to expand beyond the Indian film industry. “Her debut is not just about style—it is about rewriting narratives, embracing evolution and showcasing the undeniable force of a woman in her prime” says a press release.
Last year, she represented India at the Red Sea Film Foundation’s Women in Cinema Gala Dinner at Cannes, highlighting India’s growing influence in the international film landscape. Her look from Cannes, in a striking pink and black gown with intricate lace detailing, went viral, garnering widespread praise and setting new trends in fashion.
Beyond fashion, Kiara has established herself as a successful and versatile actress from her generation. She has starred in four blockbusters among 19 Hindi and South releases in 11 years, showcasing her immense popularity and box-office appeal.
Kiara’s presence on such prestigious platforms continues to set new standards for Indian representation at global events. Kiara and husband Sidharth Malhotra have also revealed that they were expecting their first child together. So Kiara will be attending the event with a baby bump! They announced the pregnancy in February 2025 but have not shared the baby’s due date, only stating “Coming soon” in their announcement. The couple had got married in February 2023 after co-starring in one of the few movies that did well despite being released only on OTT: Shershaah.
As per Wikipedia, the Bachelor of Arts graduate in Mass Communication was born Alia Advani to businessman Jagdeep Advani and Genevieve Jaffrey, a teacher whose father was originally from Lucknow and whose mother was of Scottish, Irish, Portuguese, and Spanish ancestry. She is related to several celebrities through her maternal family. Actors Ashok Kumar and Saeed Jaffrey were her step-great-grandfather and great-uncle, respectively. Her name was changed in the movies as there was another Alia (again with mixed ancestry!) in the industry—Bhatt, now also married to a film actor, Ranbir Kapoor.
Interestingly, Sidharth was introduced by Karan Johar (who also co-produced Shershaah) in the 2012 Student of the Year that also was Alia Bhatt’s debut film!
