Anokhi, the Jaipur-based lifestyle brand known for its handcrafted textiles, has opened its newest store in Coonoor, India, featuring its signature collections of hand block-printed womenswear, menswear, childrenswear, home furnishings, and accessories.

Founded by John and Faith Singh in 1970, Anokhi was established with the vision of reviving the centuries-old craft of hand block printing.

“At a time when handcrafted textiles were rapidly being replaced by industrial manufacturing, Anokhi began working closely with artisans across Rajasthan, including block carvers, printers, dyers, embroiderers, and bead workers, to help preserve these traditional skills while ensuring sustainable livelihoods,” the company said in a statement.

Starting with small collections of handcrafted apparel, Anokhi combined traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design to create timeless pieces that gained recognition across India and international markets, the statement said. Over the years, the brand expanded its offerings to include home furnishings and accessories while maintaining its commitment to ethical craftsmanship and artisan-led production.

As part of its efforts to preserve India’s textile heritage, Anokhi established the Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing in Jaipur in 2005. The museum is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and celebrating the art and history of hand block printing.

Today, Anokhi continues to work with skilled artisans across Rajasthan to produce handcrafted textiles using traditional techniques, including block printing, quilting, embroidery, and khari printing.
