New York Lawmakers Honor Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s Centennial Year and Legacy of Service

New York State lawmakers recently recognized the legacy and teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, highlighting his message of peace, love, non-violence, and selfless service during separate events held in Albany and Glen Cove, New York.

On May 27, 2026, New York Assemblyman Nader J. Sayegh honored Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s contributions and values during a recognition at the New York State Assembly in Albany.

As part of the event, Assemblyman Sayegh introduced Sundar Venugopalan, a volunteer with the Sri Sathya Sai Global Council (New York), in the Assembly, while lauding volunteers’ efforts in sharing Sai Baba’s teachings within the community.

Speaking at the Legislative Building, Assemblyman Sayegh said, “The Spiritual leader Sai Baba is well known for his message ‘Love All Serve All, Help Ever Never Hurt’, values of truth, right conduct, peace, love, non-violence, community service and just goodness.”

Dileepkumar Thankappan, an executive committee member of the New York State Interfaith Council, attended the event alongside Venugopalan and expressed appreciation to the Assemblyman for recognizing Sai Baba’s teachings.

Reflecting on the significance of the recognition, Venugopalan said, “Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s timeless message of ‘Love All, Serve All’ and ‘Help Ever, Hurt Never’ continues to resonate with millions around the world, demonstrating everyday that selfless love and compassion can transform lives and unite humanity.”

Separately, on May 29, 2026, a Senior Congressional aide from U.S. Congressman Thomas Suozzi’s office presented a Congressional Special Recognition certificate at Suozzi’s district office, in Glen Cove, in observance of the centennial birth year of Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

The certificate stated: “On behalf of the constituents of the Third Congressional District of New York, Congratulations on celebrating Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s Centennial Birth year. This observance recognizes the lasting impact of Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s teachings and his message of selfless service to others. May we all practice his teaching of ‘love all serve all.’”

Venugopalan and Jayalakshmi Sundar accepted the recognition on behalf of the Sri Sathya Sai Global Council, New York, during the presentation in Glen Cove.
