Vice President of India CP Radhakrishnan met with members of a Darjeeling youth delegation at the Vice President’s House on February 24, 2026, highlighting the region’s cultural legacy and the importance of national unity.
In a post shared on social media, the Vice President underscored Darjeeling’s rich cultural heritage, observing that the region stands out for “upholding exceptionally high cultural standards.”
He also stated that “preserving our traditions and cultural legacy” must always remain at the “core of our values.”

During the interaction, Vice President Radhakrishnan stressed that every citizen should be guided by an “unwavering commitment” to place the Nation first. He noted that national and regional interests should complement one another and function in harmony.
The Vice President also expressed his appreciation to Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Harsh V. Shringla, who led the delegation.
In response, MP Shringla thanked the Vice President for providing this “unique opportunity” to present the hopes and aspirations of young people from the Darjeeling hills and surrounding region, and to benefit from his guidance.

The delegation also met Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju at his residence in New Delhi. In a social media post, Minister Rijiju described the meeting as engaging and meaningful. “Listening to their hopes and aspirations reaffirmed my belief that the greatest strength of our nation lies in its young minds,” he said.
Expressing gratitude to the Minister, MP Shringla noted that “The opportunity was greatly cherished by the young minds from Darjeeling who learnt a great deal from their interaction with the immensely respected and capable Union Minister, who is an icon and role model for all from the North-East of our country.”
