Vice Chancellor and Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence at Sai University, Dr. Ajith Abraham, has been featured in Stanford University’s prestigious World’s Top 2% Scientists List for 2025.
The global ranking, prepared by Stanford University in partnership with Elsevier, highlights scientists with significant research impact across 22 fields and 174 subfields, according to a statement from Sai University.
Recognized as one of the most credible benchmarks of scholarly influence, the list is based on a composite citation index (c-score) derived from six bibliometric indicators, including total citations, h-index, and citations to first, last, or single-author publications.
“Dr. Abraham, who has consistently featured in this list since its inception, is internationally renowned for his contributions to artificial intelligence, medical image analysis, predictive modelling, and cancer diagnostics,” the university noted. “With over 1,500 publications, an H-index of 122, and more than 67,000 citations, his work continues to influence multiple disciplines worldwide.”
Beyond academia, Dr. Abraham has led or co-led projects worth more than US$110 million, supported by funding agencies across the United States, European Union, and Asia.
“I am honored to lead Sai University at a time when research is central to the mission of higher education. With a committed faculty, students, and global partnerships, we shall strive for excellence, innovation and impact,” Dr. Abraham said following the recognition.
Sai University, a state private institution in Chennai, houses eight interdisciplinary schools with faculty trained at leading global universities including Stanford, Harvard, Oxford, and Cambridge, and is building a strong ecosystem for research and innovation.
