World leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have congratulated President Donald Trump on his re-election to the White House as the 47th President of the United States.
Referring to President Trump as “my friend,” PM Modi noted, “As you build on the successes of your previous term, I look forward to renewing our collaboration to further strengthen the India-US Comprehensive Global and Strategic Partnership. Together, let’s work for the betterment of our people and to promote global peace, stability and prosperity.”
Former President of India, Ram Nath Kovind recalled, “I fondly remember his [President Trump] landmark visit to India in 2020 when I had the opportunity to host him at Rashtrapati Bhavan,” expressing confidence that India-US relations will “prosper,” under President Trump’s leadership.
Congratulating President Trump on his “historic election victory,” Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer said he looked forward to working with him in the years ahead. “As the closest of allies, we stand shoulder to shoulder in defense of our shared values of freedom, democracy and enterprise,” PM Starmer emphasized adding “From growth and security to innovation and tech, I know that the UK-US special relationship will continue to prosper on both sides of the Atlantic for years to come.”
President of France, Emmanuel Macron underscored that he is ready to “work together,” with President Trump as he did from 2016-2020. “With your convictions and mine. With respect and ambition. For more peace and prosperity,” he added.
Extending congratulations to President Trump, Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu called it a “history’s greatest comeback.”
“Your historic return to the White House offers a new beginning for America and a powerful recommitment to the great alliance between Israel and America,” added PM Netanyahu, referring to the election outcome as a “huge victory.”
President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, referred to it as an “impressive election victory,” recalling his meeting with President Trump on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly this past September.
“We discussed in detail the Ukraine-U.S. strategic partnership, the Victory Plan, and ways to put an end to Russian aggression against Ukraine,” he conveyed appreciating President Trump’s commitment to the “peace through strength,” approach in global affairs.
“This is exactly the principle that can practically bring just peace in Ukraine closer. I am hopeful that we will put it into action together. We look forward to an era of a strong United States of America under President Trump’s decisive leadership. We rely on continued strong bipartisan support for Ukraine in the United States,” he added.
Commending the American people for their “active participation in the democratic process,”
Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres said, “I congratulate President-elect Donald J. Trump and I reaffirm my belief that the cooperation between the United States and the United Nations is an essential pillar of international relations. The United Nations stands ready to work constructively with the incoming administration to address the dramatic challenges our world is facing.”
Congratulating the President-elect, Secretary-General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Mark Rutte noted that “His leadership will again be key to keeping our Alliance strong. I look forward to working with him again to advance peace through strength through NATO.”
Former NATO Secretary-General and Prime Minister of Norway, Jens Stoltenberg recalled during President Trump’s first term, their “working relationship focused on bolstering transatlantic security and adapting NATO for the future,” noting “In a world of growing instability, strong U.S. leadership remains essential.”
Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, said, “I look forward to working closely with the incoming Administration to further strengthen and broaden the Pakistan-U.S. partnership,”
Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, emphasized that the US Presidential election is “always an important moment for the world,” and for Australia.
“The United States has long played a leadership role in the stability and security of the Indo-Pacific. Australia will strive to strengthen the co-operation between our two nations in the region,” he added.
Expressing that “Democracy is the voice of the people and it must always be respected,” President of Brazil, Luiz Lula Da Silva, underscored, “The world needs dialogue and joint work to have more peace, development and prosperity. I wish the new government luck and success.”
President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, said he “looked forward to continuing the close and mutually beneficial partnership between” the United States and South Africa across all areas. He added, “In the global arena, we look forward to our Presidency of the G20 in 2025, where we will work closely with the US who will succeed us in the G20 Presidency in 2026.”
President of the EU Commission, Ursula Leyen said she will work with “President Trump again to advance a strong transatlantic agenda,” mentioning “Let us work together on a transatlantic partnership that continues to deliver for our citizens. Millions of jobs and billions in trade and investment on each side of the Atlantic depend on the dynamism and stability of our economic relationship.”
Underscoring the significance of the friendship between the United States and Canada, Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, called the election victory “the envy of the world.”
“I know President Trump and I will work together to create more opportunity, prosperity, and security for both of our nations,” he added.
Among others, Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman of Saudi Arabia, President of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, President of Turkey, Tayyip Erdogan, and Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Mao Ning also sent congratulatory messages to President-elect Trump.
Meanwhile, spokesperson for President Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov, conveyed that President Putin will not be issuing a congratulatory message citing relations between Russia-US were at the “lowest point in history.”
