On November 2, 2024, thousands gathered at Bridgewater Commons in Bridgewater Township, New Jersey, for inaugural Diwali celebrations. Organized in collaboration with Renascent Media, the event marked a “historic first for the community,” showcasing Diwali on an unprecedented scale.
Among the distinguished guests were Bridgewater Mayor Matthew Moench and Councilman Michael Kirsch, who, alongside local leaders, lit ceremonial Diyas to officially kick off the festivities.
According to a press statement, the event featured performances and activities including “Prayer Dance by Nadia Neubert, who performed a traditional Odissi invocation, Mangalacharan, blending grace and spirituality. Navrang Dance Academy’s Theatrical Performance, bringing to life the epic tale of Lord Rama’s journey, culminating in the triumph of good over evil; and Bollywood Dance Showcase by Satrangi School of Fusion, an electrifying mix of traditional and contemporary styles that delighted audiences of all ages.”
The event also featured lively performances and interactive activities, such as henna art, Diya painting, and tasting various Indian sweets. The festive atmosphere was enhanced by shopping prize giveaways, with winners receiving gift cards from sponsors like Lotus Art Boutique, Sephora, Bloomingdale’s, Fogo de Chão, Gloria Jean’s Coffee, and Pottery Barn.
Attendees added to the celebration by lighting electric candles, symbolizing hope, unity, and the triumph of light over darkness.
