The HinduPACT, a Hindu Policy Research and Advocacy Collective, has reached out to President-elect Donald Trump and the Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee, urging the inclusion of a Hindu priest alongside representatives from other major faiths in the upcoming presidential inauguration ceremony.
Highlighting the significant contributions of Hindus to the United States, HinduPACT emphasized that American Hindus strongly supported the President-elect during the 2024 election. The organization cited surveys indicating that the number of Hindu voters for Trump nearly doubled compared to the 2020 election.
HinduPACT also expressed its readiness to recommend a “highly qualified Hindu priest,” to deliver prayers at the event, showcasing the richness of Hindu traditions.
“This shift highlights the community’s growing alignment with your vision for America. The American Hindu population has expanded significantly, now totaling nearly six million. This demographic’s Influence was particularly pronounced in key swing states,” noted a statement from HinduPACT. “Considering that the Hindu population in America is comparable in size to the Jewish and Muslim populations, including a Hindu priest In the Inauguration would be a fitting acknowledgment of the Hindu community’s role in our society.”
The organization further noted that President-elect Trump’s leadership is globally respected, particularly in India—a predominantly Hindu nation. Surveys there reveal that nearly three-quarters of Indians are optimistic about the prospects of U.S.-India relations under his Presidency.
“Such Inclusion would celebrate our nation’s diversity and enhance the administration’s image at home and abroad. Thank you for considering this request. We are confident that millions of American Hindus and the global Hindu diaspora would greatly appreciate this inclusive gesture,” it added.
