More than 1,800 people from across New Jersey are expected to attend “An Evening with Gurudev: On Power, Presence & Peace” at the State Theatre New Jersey on September 22.
According to a statement from the Art of Living Foundation, the event is open to all and offers an opportunity to meet globally recognized spiritual leader and humanitarian Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
“The evening will explore how individuals can find steadiness, clarity, and inner peace amid the pressures and uncertainty of modern life,” the statement said. “The program includes a live Q&A, guided group meditation, and live music, offering attendees an opportunity to experience his practical approach to well-being in person.”
The program will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at the State Theatre New Jersey, located at 15 Livingston Avenue in New Brunswick. Tickets are available to the public at aolf.me/peace.
For the past three decades, the foundation has worked in New Jersey to promote a more “balanced, stress-free society with a particular focus on mental health and well-being.” Its initiatives have introduced “breathing, meditation, and self-regulation practices” in schools, colleges, healthcare settings, veterans’ programs and correctional facilities.
“In a time of rising stress and anxiety, New Jersey communities have been practicing these tools for over 30 years,” said Vikas Chawla, a senior faculty member of the Art of Living Foundation. “This evening is about bringing that lived experience together.”
The New Jersey program is part of Gurudev’s continuing U.S. tour and coincides with the Art of Living Foundation’s 45th anniversary of service.
The foundation said its work in New Jersey schools includes East Side High School in Newark, where daily breathing exercises helped improve performance benchmarks from 20 percent to 90 percent. SKY Campus Happiness chapters at Rutgers University, Stevens Institute of Technology, Princeton University, Monmouth Community College, the New Jersey Institute of Technology and Seton Hall University also provide these practices to thousands of college students.
“Its Healing Breaths program has trained more than 500 New Jersey healthcare professionals, while its veterans’ and correctional-facility programs extend this work to communities including the Secaucus Vet Center, Hudson County Correctional Center, and FCI Fort Dix,” the statement said.
The foundation’s New Jersey volunteers operate through centers in Piscataway, Princeton, Millburn, Matawan, Voorhees, Mahwah, Asbury Park, Somerset, Jersey City and Parsippany.
