Virginia Democratic candidates Kannan Srinivasan (Senate District 32) and JJ Singh (House District 26) secured victories in the Loudoun County special election held on January 7, 2025.
After the victory, Srinivasan expressed his gratitude to the community, stating “This win is a victory for Loudoun, its families, and every Virginian across our Commonwealth. Tonight, we have shown that when we stand together and fight for the issues we care about, we win.”
Reflecting on his journey from an immigrant to a Delegate, and now Senator-elect, Srinivasan noted “I am deeply humbled by the opportunity to continue representing our community and its values. Thank you to my incredible team and the extraordinary efforts of our volunteers that drove this campaign. Their passion and hard work over the last two months were instrumental in our victory.”
“Thank you, House District 26, for putting your trust in me — I am honored to represent the community that my family calls home. I’m ready to get to Richmond and get to work fighting for our values and deliver for Southeastern Loudoun County families,” said Singh.
Virginia State Senator Ghazala Hashmi congratulated both Srinivasan and Singh, expressing her eagerness to collaborate with them in advancing progress within the General Assembly.
Republican Senate candidate Tumay Harding, who was defeated by Srinivasan, shared that she had called him to offer her congratulations and pledged her support toward building a stronger community in Eastern Loudoun.
“While this is not the result we had worked for and hoped for, I want to thank everyone who put their blood, sweat, and tears into this race, and know that I am not done working for our community and our kids,” she said.
