Pakistani American Ali Sajjad Taj, the Mayor Pro Tem of Artesia in Los Angeles County, has officially declared his candidacy for the California State Assembly District 67 in the upcoming 2026 election.
“I am honored to receive the support of so many trusted leaders throughout our district,” said Taj in a statement. “Together, we will build a brighter future for our communities, focusing on the issues that matter most—education, public safety, affordable housing, and economic growth.”
Taj’s campaign focusing on “One Voice, One Community, One Future,” is gaining significant traction, with endorsements from a broad coalition of esteemed leaders throughout the district. These endorsements underscore his strong commitment to community service and his determination to achieve positive outcomes for the residents of District 67.
In fact, Taj has garnered the endorsement of Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva, currently representing Assembly District 67. Quirk-Silva commended Taj for his leadership and commitment to upholding her legacy of service in the district.
“Ali Sajjad Taj is a leader who truly understands the needs of our community and has the experience to deliver on his promises,” noted Quirk-Silva. “I have no doubt that he will be an outstanding representative for District 67.”
Along with Quirk-Silva, Taj has also received endorsements from Senator Josh Newman, State Treasurer Fiona Ma, Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris, Assemblywoman Blanca Pacheco, Senator Bob Archuleta, and several others.
