Sony Group Corporation and Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) announced that Ravi Ahuja, currently SPE’s Chairman of Global Television Studios and President and COO, will take over as President and CEO of SPE, effective January 2, 2025.

According to a press statement from SPE, Tony Vinciquerra, SPE’s current Chairman and CEO, will step down from his role but will continue in an advisory capacity as non-executive Chairman until the end of December 2025.

Ahuja will be reporting directly to Chairman and CEO of Sony Group Corporation, Kenichiro Yoshida, as well as the company’s President, COO and CFO, Hiroki Totoki.

“It is my privilege and honor to take the helm at SPE,” said Ahuja in the statement. “This is a special place — an iconic studio with an extraordinary 100-year history of storytelling. Thanks to Tony’s remarkable leadership, we have leading businesses with clear strategies and are set up for even greater success in the years to come.”

Ahuja expressed his enthusiasm for the future and gratitude for collaborating with thousands of talented colleagues at SPE and Sony’s sister companies.

“I am grateful for Tony’s mentorship, guidance and friendship through the decades, and I thank Yoshida-san and Totoki-san for entrusting me with this important role,” he added.

The statement further said since joining SPE in 2021 as Chairman of Global Television Studios, Ahuja has overseen all production businesses for Sony Pictures Television (SPT) and the studio’s operations in India. Under his leadership, SPT and its production companies have created numerous award-winning television series, including The Crown, The Night Agent, The Boys, Cobra Kai, Better Call Saul, and The Last of Us, among many others.

Ahuja has also played a key role in overseeing mergers and acquisitions (M&A) at SPE, managing significant deals such as the acquisitions of the acclaimed nonfiction entertainment company Industrial Media, the UK production company Bad Wolf, and the VFX company Pixomondo, along with the sale of GSN Games to Scopely.

Before joining SPE, Ahuja served as President of Business Operations and CFO at Walt Disney Television. He has also held various senior positions, including CFO, at the Fox Networks Group and Virgin Entertainment Group, Inc.
