The Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) has announced the details of a working group to support the government’s English Law Promotion Panel, helping to strengthen the international profile of English law and support the growth of the UK’s world-leading legal services sector. The working group will ensure that the role of public relations is recognized and represented in the Panel’s work.
According to a statement, the group will bring together communications professionals from across legal, corporate, government, and international sectors to contribute expertise that support the Panel’s wider objectives. The English Law Promotion Panel was established by the Ministry of Justice as part of the Government’s Modern Industrial Strategy. Chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister and Lord Chancellor, Rt Hon David Lammy MP, and Vice-Chaired by Sarah Sackman KC MP, Minister for Courts and Legal Services, the Panel supports the government’s mission to drive economic growth and strengthen the UK’s global competitiveness.
The UK legal sector contributes approximately £42.6 billion to the UK economy. The CIPR Working Group will be chaired by Farzana Baduel, President of the CIPR and a member of the English Law Promotion Panel, and includes;
- Sam Ellis, Senior Public Affairs Manager, Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL)
- Tony Langham, Executive Chair and Co-Founder, Lansons | Team Farner
- Jon McLeod, Partner, DRD Partnership
- Angharad Mountford, Senior Communications Manager, Schillings
- Charlotte Sansom, Associate Director, PR & Communications, EMEA, Dechert LLP
The group also draws on further representatives from global law firms and other organizations.
