Board of Peace Says it Would Assess Developments in Gaza Via Actions Post Hamas Govt. Resignation

The Board of Peace said it would judge developments in Gaza “by actions, not promises” after Hamas announced the dissolution of its governing administration in the Strip ahead of a proposed transfer of authority to the technocratic National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG).

In a statement posted on X, the Board said it had “taken note” of Hamas’s announcement but stressed that its assessment would depend on concrete steps taken on the ground.

“Ultimately, our assessment will be guided by actions, not promises, to meet the critical needs of the people of Gaza,” the statement said.

The announcement by Hamas follows its declaration that the Hamas-led administration overseeing civilian affairs in Gaza would step down and transfer authority to the NCAG. The move is widely viewed as largely symbolic and appears aimed at demonstrating the group’s willingness to comply with governance provisions outlined in US President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan for Gaza.

However, the transition process has remained stalled for months. The Board has accused Hamas of refusing to surrender its weapons, while Hamas has argued that Israel must first fully implement the terms of a ceasefire agreement reached last year.

The Board said it remained committed to advancing “the implementation mechanisms necessary to enable the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza to assume full governing authority.”

It added that any meaningful transfer of power would require “the consolidation of all weapons under the control of the NCAG as provided for in the Comprehensive Gaza Peace Plan and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.”

“A genuine transfer of authority must enable the NCAG to exercise its mandate independently, including taking the administrative and governance decisions entrusted to it,” the Board said.
