Houston Consulate Joins International Day of Yoga Celebrations in Sugar Land and The Woodlands

Consul General of India in Houston, D.C. Manjunath joined Sugar Land Mayor Carol McCutcheon at the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 celebrations organized by HSS and Hindu Yuva at Brazos River Park in Sugar Land on June 20, 2026.

The event brought together community members to celebrate the enduring benefits of yoga. Addressing the gathering, the Consul General spoke about this year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” and highlighted the significance of the International Day of Yoga in promoting “holistic health, well-being, and harmony.”

As part of a series of events marking the 12th International Day of Yoga, the Hindu Temple of The Woodlands organized a special Common Yoga Protocol session at its premises. The program was followed by a day-long Health Mela featuring wellness activities and opportunities for community engagement.

Consul Prashant Sona represented the Consulate at the event and commended the temple leadership, volunteers, and yoga instructors for their dedicated efforts in promoting “holistic well-being and the spirit of Yoga.”

The Consulate expressed appreciation to all participants, instructors, and community partners for their enthusiastic support of the celebrations.

According to the Consulate, such initiatives help strengthen the collective observance of the International Day of Yoga across the region.
