The Consulate General of India in Houston has expressed its “deep appreciation” to the Houston Military Affairs Committee (HMAC) for recognizing India as the “Honored Country” at the 2026 Annual Armed Forces Day Military Ball held on May 16, 2026, at the Houston Marriott Westchase. The annual event honors members of the military and veteran community.

The Consulate thanked Commander Eugene N. Tulich, Chairman of HMAC, and Captain Nicole Rodriguez of the United States Coast Guard for their leadership and coordination in organizing the event. It also acknowledged the U.S. Coast Guard for assuming the chairmanship of the 2026 Military Ball and for its role in coordinating this year’s program.

In addition, the Consulate conveyed its appreciation to Congressman Randy Weber for his “impactful and thoughtful address,” noting that his remarks added significance to the occasion. The Consulate also recognized the support of “I Am For Heroes” and the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF), whose partnership contributed to the success of the event.

Representing India, Consul General D.C. Manjunath delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the strength of the India-United States strategic partnership, which he described as being built on “shared democratic values, mutual trust, and a common commitment to global peace, stability, and prosperity.”

Manjunath noted that India and the United States are partners by “choice,” not by “chance,” and highlighted growing cooperation in areas including defense, maritime security, emerging technologies, and people-to-people ties. He also underlined the scope of security cooperation under the existing Major Defense Partner (MDP) framework and advocated for further strengthening bilateral relations.

The Consulate reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing ties between the two countries and deepening engagement with the U.S. Armed Forces community.
