The Indian American Impact has endorsed Virginia State Senator Saddam Salim in his bid for the U.S. Congress from Virginia’s 7th District.
In a statement issued on May 7, Executive Director of Indian American Impact, Chintan Patel, said, “We are proud to endorse Saddam Salim for Congress because he has a proven record of public service and his story reflects the strength, resilience, and compassion at the heart of our communities. A first-generation immigrant who experienced homelessness and financial hardship firsthand, he isn’t simply going to just talk about defending immigrant communities or lowering costs for working families. Instead, he has spent his career fighting for those priorities and delivering real results.”
Patel noted that since Salim’s first campaign, the organization has supported him for his work in the Virginia State Senate, advocacy for immigrant communities, and leadership.
“We know he will bring that same fighting spirit and people-first leadership to Congress,” Patel added.
Responding to the endorsement, Senator Salim said, “I’m grateful to have the support of Impact. Their support when I first ran for Senate in 2023 was crucial and one of the many reasons, I was able to take on the establishment and win. I know that with their support in this critical primary, we’ll be able to the same this time.”
