Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker is in India from December 7 to 11, a visit that the U.S. Embassy says represents a significant step in advancing President Donald Trump’s priorities for a “strong U.S.-India partnership and a free and open Indo-Pacific.”

Hooker, who is in New Delhi and will also travel to Bengaluru, is expected to focus on strengthening the “U.S.-India strategic partnership, deepening economic and commercial ties including increasing American exports, and fostering collaboration in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and space exploration,” according to the Embassy.

During her New Delhi engagements, Hooker will meet senior Indian officials to discuss regional security, economic cooperation and shared Indo-Pacific priorities. Her visit will include the Foreign Office Consultations with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.

In Bengaluru, the Under Secretary will visit the Indian Space Research Organization and meet leaders from India’s space, energy and technology sectors to “promote innovation in U.S.-India research partnerships and to explore opportunities for expanded cooperation.”
