Thousands of people gathered to witness the unveiling of the “Statue of Union,” a 90-foot Panchaloha Abhaya Hanuman, on August 18, 2024, at the Sri Ashtalakshmi Temple in Sugar Land, Texas. It is now the tallest statue in North America, and the third tallest in the United States.
The name “Statue of Union,” was inspired by Lord Hanuman’s role in reuniting Sri Rama with Sita, according to the Statue of Union’s website, which emphasized that the statue would serve as an “embodiment of strength, devotion, and selfless service.”
Several dignitaries such as Consul General of India in Houston, Manjunath Chennerappa, and Fort Bend County Judge, KP George attended the inauguration of the statue.
“I was honored to attend this historic event, celebrating a powerful symbol of strength, compassion, and unity for our community,” said Judge George.
“The project in its entirety is the vision of His Holiness Sri Chinnajeeyar Swamiji. This is an opportunity for us as a community to etch a path for future generations to seek the divine blessings of Lord Hanuman,” noted the website.
The Statue of Union, a symbol of “radiating benevolence, strength, and hope,” is a spiritual epicenter created for “a world filled with love, peace, and devotion.”
