A high-level dialogue aimed at advancing India–U.S. agricultural cooperation was recently held in Washington, D.C., under the leadership of IFFCO Chairman Dileep Sanghani, marking another important step in strengthening bilateral engagement in agriculture, food security, and farmer welfare.
The meeting was hosted by the U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC), one of America’s leading business advocacy organizations, which welcomed a delegation from the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) led by Sanghani. Following the discussions, USIBC highlighted the engagement on its official social media platforms, describing it as a meaningful initiative to deepen agricultural collaboration between the two countries.
According to USIBC, the dialogue explored opportunities to expand cooperation in addressing common agricultural challenges and leveraging emerging opportunities through innovation, technology, and policy collaboration. The discussions focused on key areas including sustainable agricultural development, innovation-driven farming practices, food and nutritional security, agricultural productivity, and farmer prosperity.
Participants also exchanged views on the adoption of advanced agricultural technologies, improving soil health, strengthening technical support systems for farmers, and developing innovative solutions to enhance resilience and productivity across the agricultural value chain.
Agricultural experts, policymakers, and industry representatives from both countries emphasized that stronger India–U.S. cooperation can play a transformative role in addressing global food security concerns while creating new opportunities for farmers and agribusinesses. The participants agreed that closer collaboration would contribute to long-term agricultural sustainability and economic growth.
The recognition accorded to the meeting by USIBC reflects the growing international stature of IFFCO and the increasing global relevance of India’s cooperative movement. It also highlights Sanghani’s role in effectively representing the interests of Indian farmers on international platforms and promoting cooperative-led agricultural development as a model for inclusive growth.
Observers view the dialogue as a significant milestone in advancing India–U.S. agricultural partnership. By fostering cooperation in innovation, sustainability, and farmer-centric development, the engagement is expected to open new avenues for collaboration and contribute to strengthening agricultural productivity, farmer incomes, and food security in both countries.
The initiative further underscores the importance of international partnerships in building a resilient and future-ready agricultural sector capable of meeting the challenges of a rapidly changing global landscape
