AIA SWADES 2026 to Celebrate U.S. 250 and India’s 80th Independence in San Jose

The Association of Indo Americans (AIA) will host AIA SWADES 2026, Silicon Valley’s premier India Day celebration, on August 15, 2026, at Plaza de Cesar Chavez in downtown San Jose, marking the 250th anniversary of the United States’ independence and India’s 80th Independence Day.

According to AIA, the event is expected to draw thousands of attendees from across the Bay Area for a vibrant celebration of Indian culture, heritage, unity, and community spirit. The festivities will feature distinguished guests, colorful cultural showcases, and inspiring stories highlighting the diversity and contributions of the Indian American community.

Schedule:

• Day & Night Mela: 2:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
• India Day Parade: 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
• Flag Raising Ceremony: 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Distinguished Guests:

• Chief Guest: Consul General of India in SFO, Dr. Srikar Reddy
• Elected officials including the Mayor of San Jose, Matt Mahan

Guest & Grand Marshal:

• Taapsee Pannu, acclaimed Indian actress

AIA said the celebration will include more than 50 floats and marching groups, cultural performances showcasing India’s rich traditions, an international food festival, a shopping marketplace, a fashion show, a children’s zone, a Flag Walk and Tiranga Walk, community and cultural exhibitions, and patriotic programs honoring both the United States and India.
