An All-Party Parliamentary Delegation from India, led by Member of Parliament Shashi Tharoor, met with U.S. Vice President JD Vance on June 5, 2025, as part of its visit to the United States aimed at briefing American officials and members of Congress on India’s strong stance against terrorism.

According to a press release from the Embassy of India, “The constructive and useful discussion resulted in comprehensive exchange on India’s fight against terrorism, advancing counter-terrorism cooperation and enhancing technological cooperation between the two countries.”

The statement further noted that both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening the India-U.S. strategic partnership.

Earlier that day on Capitol Hill, the delegation also met with Senator Andy Kim, a member of the Homeland Security Committee. During the meeting, the delegation outlined the continuing threat posed by Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism and India’s “measured and proportionate response” through Operation Sindoor.

Senator Kim, in a social media post following the meeting, stated that he had met with members of the Indian delegation “to discuss recent events in the region, including developments with Pakistan and with China.”

He added, “We exchanged views on opportunities for greater economic and technological cooperations. India is a critical U.S. partner in the Indo-Pacific, and I am committed to working with them to advance our cooperation on a free, open, and prosperous region.”

The delegation also held discussions with Senator Chris Van Hollen, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. The delegation briefed him on the ongoing threat of terrorism emanating from Pakistan – a threat that impacts both India and the United States.

Members of the delegation also participated in a reception hosted by the Indian Ambassador, where they held “candid conversations” with members of the U.S. Congress, officials from the U.S. government, and representatives from Washington-based think tanks.

“The dialogue conversation focused on strengthening the multi-faceted India-USA partnership. The comprehensive and productive dialogue covered a range of issues of mutual interest including counter-terrorism cooperation,” the Embassy statement added.
