President of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI), Dr. Satheesh Kathula, was honored with the Healthcare & Science Leadership Award at Raising Awareness of Youth with Autism (RAYWA) Foundation Awards Gala on December 14, 2024, held at The Taj Pierre Hotel in New York City.
This year’s event focused on raising awareness and support for young women and youth with autism. It also celebrated significant community achievements while highlighting the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to promote neurodiversity.
Commending the “incredible work” of Mani Kamboj and Dr. Rashmi Sharma for their “tireless efforts” in raising awareness about autism, Dr. Kathula noted “I really feel for the parents of autistic children, and what they go through. I just met a parent of a child who is autistic, and he was telling me what he’s going through. So, it is truly inspirational that you guys are really helping them. So, thank you for doing such an incredible work.”
Dedicating the award to his parents, family, and patients, Dr. Kathula noted they inspire him every day to “to do more, to be more, and to live more,” adding “So inspiration comes from all sources. They come from nature, they come from art. It comes from people around us. And the best way to inspire people is getting inspired by others. So, keep getting inspired and keep inspiring.”
For over two decades, the RAYWA Foundation has hosted its annual Inspirational Awards Gala, recognizing individuals who inspire others through their exceptional contributions in their fields.
