AAPI to host first-ever World Health Congress in New York City

The American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) will host its inaugural World Health Congress, from July 18–22, 2024, at the Marriott Marquis on Times Square in New York.

“We are very excited to invite you to the most awaited event of the year, the first-ever World Health Congress, being organized by the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin at the heart of New York City,” said President of AAPI, Dr. Anjana Samadder, in a statement.  

Dr. Samadder mentioned this this event aims to “rebrand the annual convention to include physicians from across South Asia” while adding “Because at the end of the day, we all need to stand together to address healthcare issues.” 

The theme for the Congress is “Beyond Boundaries: The Confluence of Medicine and Artificial Intelligence.”

American Television Personality and Physician, Dr. Mehmet Oz; Politician and Social Innovator, Smriti Irani; India’s Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandivya; and United States Surgeon-General, Dr. Vivek Murthy will address the Congress. 

According to Secretary of AAPI, Dr. Sumul Raval, “We have invited leaders in AI and CEOs of companies to tell us how AI is going to affect healthcare.”

Inviting delegates to the World Congress, Chair of AAPI Convention 2024, Dr. Achintya Moulik said, “Dedicated to enhancing patient care through professional development, AAPI at the World Congress is proud to present CMEs that enrich the participants with the latest in healthcare policy, technology and medical advancements.”

Delegates will also participate in sessions on AI, CMEs, Research, CEO/Women’s Forums, Mindfulness, Spiritual Discourses, and Heartbeat.

Leaders including former First Lady Michelle Obama, actress Priyanka Chopra, and former Governor of Puducherry, India, Kiran Bedi will participate at the Women’s Forum. 

The Congress will feature entertainment segments for children such as, The Wiz and The Lion King, performances by singer Atul Purohit, comedy show by Kapil Sharma, live entertainment by Javed Ali and Atif Aslam, traditional garba, Bollywood film festival, and a fashion show.  

Founded in 1982, AAPI represents over 80,000 practicing physicians in the United States, and supports more than 40,000 medical students, residents and fellows of Indian origin in the United States.
