New York State Senator John Liu has recognized the winners of the America 250 Declaration of Independence Recitation Contest.
The contest, announced last month as part of the nationwide commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the founding of the United States, invited students from the community to recite portions of the historic document and share their reflections on its significance, according to a statement from Senator Liu’s office.

The 13 winning students will take part in a public reading of the Declaration of Independence during Senator Liu’s America 250 Celebration, scheduled for June 28.
State Senator John Liu stated, “The Declaration of Independence is one of the most important foundational documents in our nation’s history, and these students are doing an amazing job in bringing this historical document to life. We invite everyone in our community to come out on June 28th and join the youth of our community in celebrating the founding of our nation and reflecting on what it means to be an American.”
