The India Association of Greater Boston (IAGB) will host its annual Republic Day Mela 2026 on January 24, 2026, at Burlington High School, bringing together culture, community, and statewide recognition.
This year’s theme, “India in Harmony – The Five Elements,” will be showcased through classical, folk, and contemporary performances featuring more than 300 artists. The event will also include over 150 competition participants and the involvement of more than 30 invited partner organizations from across New England, reflecting the region’s vibrant and growing Indian American community, according to a statement from IAGB.

Adding historic significance to the celebrations, Maura T. Healey has officially proclaimed January 26 as Republic Day of India in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, honoring India’s democratic legacy and the contributions of the Indian American community to the state’s cultural and civic life.
Distinguished guests at the event will include Chief Guest Dr. Purnanand Sarma, CEO of Aro Biotherapeutics and President of TiE Boston. Girish Mehta, Founder and Executive Director of ICC, will receive the Community Catalyst Award. Guests of Honor will include Shruthi Purushotam, Deputy Consul General of India in Boston, and Dr. Manju Sheth, President of India New England Multimedia and Women Who Win.

- 3:00 to 3:30 PM: Prize Ceremony
- 3:30 to 8:00 PM: Cultural Performances
- 8:00 to 8:30 PM: Live performance by Dhwani Band

“We are honored to celebrate Republic Day with our community, especially in a year marked by the Governor’s Proclamation,” said IAGB President Nilesh Agrawal, adding that the Republic Day Mela continues to be one of New England’s largest Indian American cultural gatherings, offering a platform for youth, families, artists, and community organizations to celebrate “heritage, unity, and shared values.”
“This event beautifully blends tradition, creativity, and community pride,” added Vice President Deepak Garg. Organizers noted that food will be available for purchase from The Treasury: Indian & Greek Kitchen in Burlington.
