To mark the Second World Meditation Day on December 21, the Consulate General of India in Houston organized an event titled “Bridging Eastern Wisdom and Western Medicine” on December 19, highlighting the growing recognition of meditation and mindfulness in supporting overall wellness.

Several Indo-American organizations across cities under the Consulate’s jurisdiction also observed the occasion by hosting special meditation sessions. In a statement, the Consulate acknowledged the initiatives of these organizations for inspiring programs that promote the practice of meditation worldwide.
“Meditation—an invaluable gift from Bharat’s ancient heritage—continues to guide the world towards inner harmony, emotional balance & holistic well-being,” the Consulate stated.

It added that this year’s theme, “Inner Peace, Global Harmony,” aligns with the United Nations emphasis on “United and Present- Global Solutions from Within,” underscoring the role of inner healing in fostering collective positive energy and strengthening human rights through mindfulness and compassion.
Consul Prashant Sona also represented the Consulate at a special event held at the Hindu Temple of The Woodlands. According to the statement, the gathering reflected the spirit of mindfulness and harmony that World Meditation Day seeks to promote.
