Takoma Music School celebrated its first anniversary on August 24, 2025, bringing together community members, local artists, and music enthusiasts for an evening of performances and festivities in Takoma Park, Maryland.
The event featured live performances by the school’s instructors and local musicians, highlighting the talent that has flourished around the institution in just one year.

“The first year of Takoma Music School has been both a challenge and a joy. We’ve laid the foundation for something meaningful, and I’m excited for the next chapter, growing our community, types of lessons taught, and continuing to share the joy of music with newcomers and veterans alike,” said co-owner Niko Rao in a statement.
Rao noted that the school’s teachers have become a valuable resource for nurturing the creative spark in students of all ages. He also announced the launch of the school’s new recording studio, offering recording and mixing services led by audio engineer Amal Handley and himself.
Attendees at the celebration had the opportunity to sign up for free trial lessons in guitar, drums, piano, bass, singing, songwriting, music production, and DJ skills. In addition, co-owners and brothers Niko and Rohit Rao offered discounted music production services exclusively for the anniversary event.

“It is important to record a song with the right tools, equipment, and most importantly understand the artists and their vision,” added Rohit Rao.
Located in the heart of downtown Takoma Park, Takoma Music School offers one-on-one private lessons in drums, piano, guitar, percussion, DJing, songwriting, and audio production, catering to students of all ages and skill levels.
