London-based singer, songwriter, and composer Ekta Rana, known for blending Indian classical traditions with contemporary music, is set to release her latest single, “Jhoom,” on January 23, 2026, across all major streaming platforms.

“The single features a vibrant collaboration with legendary British-Indian producer Rishi Rich, combining emotive songwriting with signature, genre-defining production,” noted a statement from Rana. It added that “Jhoom,” written, composed, and performed by Ekta Rana, is produced by Rishi Rich.

The word “Jhoom” in Hindi translates to “sway” or “move with happiness, joy, and rhythm.”

“This song is about being in love and letting yourself feel it completely,” the statement said. “It’s light, upbeat, and joyful; that feeling when your heart starts dancing on its own, when you find yourself swaying to the rhythm of someone special, lost in those small, beautiful moments love brings.”

Speaking about the single, Rana shared: “Jhoom is about swaying in love and letting the music carry your heart.”

Rich, a pioneer of Asian-R&B fusion and a central figure in the Asian Underground scene, has earned international acclaim for his bhangra, Hindi remixes, and genre-blending productions, according to the statement. Through the Rishi Rich Project, he helped launch artists such as Jay Sean, Juggy D, Veronica Mehta, and Mumzy Stranger. His signature production brings depth, rhythm, and contemporary polish to “Jhoom,” creating an immersive listening experience while preserving its emotional core.

Rana began her musical journey at the age of 13, training in Indian classical music. After a brief hiatus, she returned to performing in 2014, collaborating with mentors including Ustad Mehboob Nadeem and Sushma Zaveri Ji.

Her debut album, Colours of Love (2025), received nationwide radio airplay, including on BBC Radio, and was supported by an interview at BBC studios. Rana’s songwriting is rooted in personal yet relatable themes, connecting with listeners through shared emotions and lived experiences.

With “Jhoom,” the statement noted that Rana continues to evolve artistically, embracing collaboration while celebrating “love, freedom, and the joy of musical movement.”
