Waveband Productions and Maruti International in association with Balaji Telefilms launched Masti 4 with a muhurat ceremony.

Directed by Milap Zaveri, Masti 4 promises to be a spectacular celebration of laughter, chaos and entertainment. With Aftab Shivdasani, Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi and Shreya Sharma headlining the film, this fourth installment seems primed to again elevate the Masti franchise that went wrong in Great Grand Masti in 2016.

The film is produced by A. Jhunjhunwala, founder and CEO of Waveband Productions and S.K. Ahluwalia, co-founder of Waveband Productions. Joining them are original producers Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria of Maruti International, and also Shobha Kapoor and Ekta R. Kapoor of Balaji Telefilms.

Speaking on the occasion, A. Jhunjhunwala said, “Comedy is the purest form of entertainment, and Masti 4 will be an explosion of fun, laughter and madness. We aim to blend nostalgia with a fresh burst of energy. Under Milap’s direction and with a stellar cast, we are confident that this film will strike a chord with every generation.”
The legendary Jeetendra, Shobha’s husband and Ektaa’s father, was present in a rare gesture. Also present were Shweta Rathod, Indra Kumar’s daughter, who is married to composer (Sanjeev-)Darshan Rathod.

Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria had made Masti in 2004, which did above-average business but soon became a mini-classic, while Grand Masti (2013) was a blockbuster and joined the 100-crore club. The third film in the franchise attempted a horror sex comedy and came unstuck. That was the first time Balaji Telefilms had joined Maruti International, Ashok Thakeria’s and Indra Kumar’s banner. This is the first time that Indra Kumar is passing the directorial reigns to someone else—Milap Zaveri. Said Milap, “It is a dream come true to direct the franchise I originally wrote.”

Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria are also behind the Dhamaal franchise.
