Some previous supporters of former Vice President Kamala Harris are skeptical about her possible participation in the 2028 presidential election, ABC reported on Monday, citing sources.

“I think the electorate is going to be extremely hungry for a new, fresh, younger voice with a different perspective, and who can effectively articulate an agenda for the future. … I don’t believe that Kamala is the right person for this moment by any stretch of your imagination,” a fundraiser who raised money for Harris’ 2024 run told ABC.

While Harris is eyeing all possible options, she has not yet begun preparing to run for the election, a source familiar with the former vice president’s plans said.

At the same time, a Democratic donor who raised money for Harris’ 2020 presidential campaign noted the lack of broad support for her nomination.

“I really have not heard anybody say that they want her to run. In fact, it’s the opposite,” the donor said, as quoted by ABC.

Another former Harris ally reportedly stated that he would definitely not support her if she were to run, while a source close to the former vice president said that Harris herself understands that if she runs, some of her former supporters might back other candidates.

California Governor Gavin Newsom, a critic of President Donald Trump, is the preferred Democratic candidate, the report added.

Last week, The Washington Post reported that Harris was not considered a viable candidate for the 2028 presidential election by Democratic insiders due to her loss in the last presidential election. Harris herself, however, has repeatedly stated that she is considering a second run.
