IACFNJ Hosts Navratri Garba Celebration in South Brunswick, New Jersey

Over 3,000 people attended the Navratri Garba celebration organized by the Indo-American Cultural Foundation of Central Jersey (IACFNJ) on October 4-5, 2024, at South Brunswick High School in New Jersey.

According to a press release from IACFNJ, Navratri – the festival of nine nights, during which Hindus honor the goddesses Shakti Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswati. Hindus believe that Goddess Durga eliminates evil tendencies from the minds of her devotees, Goddess Lakshmi instills divine virtues, and Goddess Saraswati grants true knowledge. The tenth day, known as Vijay Dashami, symbolizes the triumph of good over evil.

Enthusiastic attendees traveled from various towns, including South and North Brunswick, Franklin Park, Somerset, Princeton, Hightstown, Princeton Junction, Monroe, East Brunswick, Robbinsville, and East and West Windsor.

The event also saw active participation from local entrepreneurs, community leaders, and public officials. Notable attendees included South Brunswick Councilwoman Archana Grover, North Brunswick Councilman Rajesh Mehta, and South Brunswick School Board members Deepa Karthik, Dr. Smitha Raj, Mike Mitchell, and Barry Nathanson.
