Indiaspora has announced the Heritage Connect Program, a 12-day cultural and leadership initiative for high school juniors and seniors of Indian origin between the ages of 17 and 19.
Indiaspora is a global network of prominent Indian diaspora leaders that works to strengthen the community’s collective voice and promote a more inclusive and connected world.
According to a statement from the organization, the program will bring together a select group of students from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore and Australia. Participants will explore India’s history, culture and contemporary society through immersive experiences in New Delhi, Jaipur, Agra and Viratnagar.
The itinerary will include interactions with entrepreneurs and social leaders, as well as visits to cultural institutions. Participants are also scheduled to visit Bal Ashram in Viratnagar, which is affiliated with the Satyarthi Movement for Global Compassion. A meeting with Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kailash Satyarthi is planned, subject to confirmation.
Indiaspora said the initiative reflects its commitment to engaging the next generation of the global Indian community. The program is designed to help young people examine “identity, heritage, leadership and social impact” while building friendships with peers who share similar experiences.
“Heritage Connect is about making the connection to India real for the next generation, giving young people the opportunity to experience India for themselves, build friendships with peers who share their story and discover a connection that can stay with them for life,” Indiaspora Executive Director Sanjeev Joshipura said.
The Heritage Connect Program is part of Indiaspora’s broader effort to create meaningful opportunities for young members of the diaspora to connect with India, learn about their heritage and develop relationships with one another.
