Actor Kalki Koechlin has sold an apartment in Mumbai’s upscale Andheri West neighborhood for 25.5 million rupees (about $297,000), nearly a decade after purchasing the property, according to registration documents reviewed by real estate analytics platform Square Yards.

The transaction was registered in April 2026 and involved an apartment in Varsova Kiran Co-operative Housing Society Ltd., a residential complex in one of Mumbai’s most sought-after suburban markets.

According to documents available on the Maharashtra Inspector General of Registration website, the apartment measures 114.31 square meters (1,230 square feet). The transaction attracted stamp duty of 1.61 million rupees (about $18,700) and registration charges of 30,000 rupees (about $350).

Koechlin originally purchased the apartment in December 2015 for 19.5 million rupees (about $227,000). The latest sale price of 25.5 million rupees represents an appreciation of roughly 6 million rupees (about $70,000), translating into a gain of nearly 31% over a holding period of about 10 years.

The sale highlights the enduring appeal of Andheri West, a neighborhood favored by actors, media professionals, entrepreneurs and corporate executives because of its location near Mumbai’s entertainment and business districts.

Andheri West remains one of the city’s most active real estate markets, supported by strong connectivity through the Western Express Highway, Link Road, Mumbai’s suburban rail network and Metro system. The area also offers easy access to key employment hubs, including SEEPZ, MIDC, Film City and Bandra Kurla Complex.

Real estate analysts say the locality continues to attract homebuyers and investors because of its established social infrastructure, including schools, hospitals, shopping centers and entertainment venues.

Celebrity property transactions have increasingly become a barometer of activity in Mumbai’s housing market, where established neighborhoods have continued to deliver steady long-term appreciation despite periodic fluctuations in the broader real estate sector.

Koechlin, who made her Bollywood debut in 2009, is known for her work across films, theater and streaming platforms. Born in India to French parents, she has earned critical acclaim for portraying unconventional characters and has remained active in cultural, literary and social initiatives beyond her acting career.

Her latest property sale offers another glimpse into Mumbai’s evolving residential market, where location, connectivity and long-term ownership continue to drive value creation for homeowners and investors alike.
