The Foundation of Indian-Americans – New England (FIA-NE) has announced that Bollywood actor, filmmaker, and author Jugal Hansraj will serve as the Grand Marshal of the 4th International India Day Parade, to be held on August 10, 2025, at the historic Boston Harbor.

Marking India’s 78th Independence Day (Swadhinta Diwas), the annual celebration is expected to draw thousands of attendees from across the New England region, celebrating Indian heritage, patriotism, and global unity, according to the organizers.

FIA-NE’s Media Executive, Sanjay Gokhale, noted that this year’s event will be the organization’s most diverse and inclusive yet, with representatives from over 20 countries participating under the theme: “United World, Shared Dream: Peace, Prosperity & Progress.”

Inspired by the ideals of President George Washington and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, the event aims to underscore the enduring democratic values and historical ties between India and the United States.

The organizers noted that a major highlight of the parade will be a commemorative float honoring Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on the occasion of his 150th birth anniversary. Known as the Iron Man of India, Patel is celebrated for his role in national integration during India’s freedom struggle.

The celebration, to be held at Christopher Columbus Park, will feature:

  • Themed parade floats representing Indian states and global cultures
  • Flag hoisting ceremonies honoring veterans, seniors, and community leaders
  • Cultural performances, marching bands, and live entertainment
  • A celebrity roundtable discussion with special guests and dignitaries
  • Scholarship presentations to high-achieving youth
  • A food court offering Indian delicacies and diverse vendor stalls

To facilitate access, FIA-NE is offering a free shuttle service from three nearby parking locations, said FIA Executive Vice President Nikhil Wadhwa.

  • Street Meter Parking – Free on Sundays (0.2–0.3 miles)
  • Post Office Square Garage – ~$9 flat rate (0.3 miles)
  • Channelside Lot, 45 Binford St., Seaport – ~$5 flat rate (0.4 miles)

Shuttle pickup will run from 9:00 AM to 10:40 AM, with return service available between 3:00 PM and 4:30 PM.
