Amitabh Bachchan marked the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, which fell on July 29 this year, by sharing a heartfelt message on the timeless significance of the guru-disciple relationship.

Taking to his blog, the 83-year-old wrote a verse from the Skanda Puran, “Ekamapyaskharam yastu Guru-Shishye nivedayet Pruthvivyam naasti tada dravyam yadyatvaa hyanruni bhavet,” which translates as “Even if a guru imparts a single syllable of true knowledge to a disciple, there is no wealth on earth that can repay that debt.”

He added, “Salutations on Gurupurnima with respect and honor. Prayers for the Guru… and greetings of the auspicious day.”

Beyond cinema, the megastar has long been embraced by millions as a mentor, and enjoys an unparalleled fan following spanning generations. On the work front, he is set to return as the host of the 18th season of Kaun Banega Crorepati, with shooting for the latest edition expected to begin from August 1. The iconic quiz show is gearing up once again to bring Bachchan’s charm, gravitas and warmth back to television screens.

The new season promises to put a greater emphasis on thoughtful decision- making with “Sochna Padega (I will have to think),” proving that knowledge alone is not enough sometimes, and taking a moment to think can change the outcome of the game. KBC 18 is expected to premiere on August 10 on Sony Entertainment.
