After opening the final leg of the FIH Pro League with a 4-3 victory over Pakistan, India played hosts England to a 2-2 draw but fell 4-1 in the penalty shootout, allowing England to claim the bonus point.
Dilpreet Singh starred for India, scoring both goals. He gave India an early lead in the 10th minute with a well-taken opportunistic finish. After England had gone ahead late in the match, Dilpreet struck again in the 58th minute to level the score, canceling out Nicholas Bandurak’s goal just minutes earlier.
Stung by India’s early breakthrough, England responded with sustained attacking pressure in search of an equalizer. Their persistence paid off when David Goodfield found the net in the 29th minute, moments before halftime.
The third quarter was evenly contested, with both teams creating opportunities but failing to capitalize, including from penalty corners. England regained the lead in the 57th minute when Nicholas Bandurak converted a well-worked move.
India remained composed despite falling behind and continued to press forward. Their efforts were rewarded a minute later as Dilpreet Singh scored his second goal of the match, forcing the contest into a penalty shootout.
England dominated the shootout, winning 4-1 to secure the additional bonus point.
India will next face Pakistan on June 26 before taking on England once again to conclude its 2026 FIH Pro League campaign.
