As the world prepares to celebrate International Day of Yoga 2026, organizers are planning what could become one of the largest and most ambitious yoga events ever held, with 21 Guinness World Record attempts scheduled for a single day.

Akshar Yoga Kendraa, under the guidance of renowned yoga guru Himalayan Siddhaa Akshar, announced that more than 5,000 participants from around the world are expected to take part in the record-setting initiative on June 21, coinciding with the global observance of International Day of Yoga.

The event is being organized around this year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” which emphasizes the role of yoga in maintaining physical health, mental wellness, emotional balance and overall quality of life across all age groups.

Organizers said participants from multiple countries will join the celebrations, reflecting yoga’s growing international appeal and its increasing recognition as a tool for promoting healthy lifestyles and longevity. The 21 Guinness World Record attempts are expected to showcase a range of yoga disciplines and practices while highlighting yoga’s ability to bring together people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

The initiative is expected to draw significant global attention and reinforce yoga’s position as a worldwide movement for health, harmony and well-being.

In addition to the June 21 celebrations, the Ministry of Ayush has issued a special call for participation in a Guinness World Record attempt scheduled for June 14, inviting yoga practitioners, institutions and wellness advocates across the globe to register and contribute to the effort. Organizers noted that every registered device will count toward the official record attempt.

With preparations underway across continents, the organizers say the event represents a shared vision of promoting healthier living through yoga while fostering a sense of global unity.
