Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand will visit India and the United Arab Emirates from October 13 to 16 to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in trade, energy, security and other areas.
Her trip comes as a Canadian trade mission led by International Trade Minister Maninder Sidhu travels to India this week.
The India leg will mark Anand’s third visit to the country since September 2025. She is scheduled to meet Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar to advance priorities outlined in the bilateral roadmap, including trade, energy, people-to-people ties, and security and defense cooperation.
The meeting will be their 11th since September 2025, reflecting continued high-level engagement between the two countries. Anand and Jaishankar have also met on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly and at other international forums.
In New Delhi, Anand will participate in a panel discussion at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum on middle powers and the changing global order. She is expected to emphasize cooperation through multilateral institutions and smaller groups of countries amid geopolitical uncertainty, while presenting Canada as a reliable partner for India and the broader Indo-Pacific region.
In the UAE, Anand will meet Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs, to discuss bilateral relations, economic cooperation and security.
She will also meet senior government officials and business leaders to explore commercial partnerships and cooperation in defense, security, artificial intelligence and innovation, as well as ways to strengthen people-to-people ties.
The UAE meetings will build on commitments made during Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s visit in November 2025 to expand bilateral relations. Anand is also expected to reaffirm Canada’s commitment to constructive engagement amid regional crises and global economic uncertainty.
