New York State Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar is set to host two upcoming community events aimed at providing housing and financial resources directly to residents of Ridgewood, continuing her approach of bringing government services closer to constituents.
According to a statement from Rajkumar, the initiatives are rooted in her belief that government should expand access to opportunity by connecting residents with essential tools, services, and support to safeguard their homes, strengthen financial stability, and enhance overall quality of life.
On Tuesday, April 7, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Rajkumar will host a Tenants and Homeowners Assistance Day at the Greater Ridgewood Youth Council, located at 59-03 Summerfield Street.
“This event, in collaboration with the Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation, will provide residents with critical resources and expert assistance. Homeowners can access foreclosure prevention counseling, mortgage retention options, property tax exemption guidance, and home repair grants,” the statement added. “Tenants can access advice on housing court cases and fixing hazardous violations, with specially tailored support for seniors. Additionally, the event will offer resources for rent-stabilized tenants interested in organizing tenant associations and advocating for improved living conditions.”
The event is co-sponsored by United Community Centers and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Services will be available in multiple languages, including Spanish and Bengali.
A second event is scheduled for Thursday, April 16, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, when Rajkumar will partner with Ridgewood Savings Bank to host a Financial Literacy Workshop at the bank’s Myrtle Avenue branch.
“This workshop, designed to help individuals, families, seniors, and small business owners gain crucial financial knowledge, will cover a range of topics including personal and business financial literacy, retirement planning, small business loans, homeownership, and digital banking tools,” noted the statement. “The event, which falls during Financial Literacy Month, aims to provide community members with the tools they need to achieve financial stability and success.”
Both events are free and open to the public, with no RSVP required.
The programs build on Rajkumar’s ongoing efforts to deliver community-focused services across the 38th Assembly District. In recent weeks, she has organized several initiatives, including a Women’s Empowerment Celebration, an OMNY Card van, a pet vaccination clinic, and mammogram services.
