The Old Sanawarian Society (OSS), the global alumni association of The Lawrence School, Sanawar, has congratulated Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu (NBD, 1979 batch) on assuming office as the 23rd Lieutenant Governor of Delhi.
Ambassador Sandhu, former India’s envoy to the United States, took the oath of office and secrecy at Lok Niwas, in New Delhi, on March 11. The oath was administered by Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya. According to a statement issued by OSS, the appointment marks a “historic milestone” in Ambassador Sandhu’s distinguished career in public service.

“This appointment reflects the enduring values of leadership, integrity, resilience, and dedication instilled at The Lawrence School, Sanawar. As an Old Sanawarian, Ambassador Sandhu exemplifies the school motto “Never Give In” through his unwavering commitment to excellence and selfless service to the nation,” the statement noted.
The statement added that the global Sanawarian community, comprising alumni across generations and countries, takes “immense pride” in Sandhu’s achievement. The society emphasized the school’s legacy of nurturing individuals who go on to assume positions of responsibility and contribute meaningfully to society.

“On behalf of the President OS Society, Executive Committee, and thousands of Old Sanawarians worldwide, we wish Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu strength, and success in his new role,” the statement added. “We are confident that under his stewardship, Delhi will continue to progress as a vibrant, inclusive, and forward-looking national capital.”
The Old Sanawarian Society also reaffirmed its support, noting its continued commitment to upholding the “Sanawarian spirit of service, excellence, and unity. Never Give In.”
