From the classrooms of Colombo to the boardrooms of London, my journey has been shaped by purpose, persistence, and possibility. As a journalist, editor, communications strategist, and global ambassador, I have built a career around connection; between industries, cultures, and people.
Today, as Editor of The Sun (Daily Mirror) in Sri Lanka, Head of Strategic Partnerships and External Communications at D3 Collective (UK), Ambassador, Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR, UK) and The HALO Trust, I continue to champion communication as a force for clarity, credibility, and change.
My Foundations
I was educated at Wycherley International School, Colombo, before completing an LLB (Hons) in the United Kingdom and an LLM at SOAS, University of London. My legal training instilled in me a deep respect for ethics, governance, and accountability; values that guide my leadership, editorial decision-making, and strategic communications work. At 22, I co-founded and co-edited, In Vogue Magazine, a fashion and lifestyle publication that marked my first immersion into the power of storytelling. It taught me how culture, creativity, and narrative can influence perception and spark meaningful conversations.
In 2012, I co-founded, The Colombo Lifestyle Company, an events, PR, and communications agency that delivered high-profile campaigns for global brands including Royal Enfield (India), CIMB Bank (Malaysia), GAIA Skin Naturals (Australia), Belvedere, Moët & Chandon, and Hennessy. These experiences shaped me into a strategist who understands audiences, crafts compelling narratives, and drives measurable impact. I have also held roles at the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Bureau and Wizcraft International Entertainment (India), and served as Co-Editor of Amazing Sri Lanka, a publication by the Western Province Tourism Board of Sri Lanka, further strengthening my expertise in destination branding and tourism storytelling.
A Dual Career Across Two Worlds
I now split my time between Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom, leading teams and shaping narratives in both ecosystems.
In Sri Lanka
I serve as Editor of The Sun (Daily Mirror), Editor of HI!! Online, and Head of Social Media at Wijeya Newspapers Limited. I oversee digital strategy across Daily Mirror Online, Lankadeepa Online, Tamil Mirror Online, Daily FT Online, Sunday Times Online, and WNow, reaching millions daily. Under my leadership, our digital teams have achieved:
- Social Media House of the Year (New Generation Awards, 2020)
- Youth Corporate Award (New Generation Awards, 2021)
- Multiple YouTube Silver Creator Awards
The Daily Mirror, which publishes The Sun, remains Sri Lanka’s most widely read English-language broadsheet with a strong international readership; an audience I consider both a privilege and responsibility to serve.
In the United Kingdom
I am Head of Strategic Partnerships and External Communications at D3 Collective Limited, a luxury hospitality company headquartered in London.

Previously, I was Head of External Communications at BRG (UK), managing the external reputation of major restaurant brands including Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK), Slim Chickens, Carluccio’s, Caffè Carluccio’s, Ed’s Easy Diner, Giraffe, and FishWorks. Working simultaneously in Colombo and London has given me a unique dual perspective; two distinct media landscapes united by a shared commitment to authenticity and impact.
CIPR Ambassador for Sri Lanka | Ambassador for The HALO Trust
Being appointed CIPR (Chartered Institute of Public Relations) Ambassador for Sri Lanka is a defining milestone. As the world’s only Royal Chartered body for PR professionals, CIPR represents the highest global standards in public relations. My role focuses on strengthening professional practice in Sri Lanka, promoting ethics, and expanding access to international training and networks.
I am also deeply honoured to serve as Ambassador for The HALO Trust, the world’s largest humanitarian mine clearance organisation. In this role, I advocate for conflict-affected communities, safe land access, and long-term recovery; bridging humanitarian action with public awareness and storytelling. These ambassadorships are not ceremonial; they are commitments to service, leadership, and nation-building.
Global Engagement and Thought Leadership
Beyond my editorial and strategic roles, I have contributed to several global platforms as a juror, speaker, and thought leader. In 2025, I served as a Member of the Jury for the Unlock Her Future Prize, hosted by The Bicester Collection and Value Retail Management (UK), as well as for the Top50 Professional and Career Women’s Awards, UK Edition, organised by Women in Management. I was also invited to deliver the Keynote Address at the 2025 Women in Management Top50 Professional and Career Women’s Awards in London, reflecting my standing within the international women’s leadership ecosystem.
As a speaker, I have participated in forums including Routes to Roots during South Asian Heritage Month (2025), hosted by Clifford Chance in the UK, and the Power Breakfast at FACETS 2026 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. In addition, I have been a guest speaker and panellist at multiple events and national conferences in Colombo, including the Global Economic Forum in 2023 hosted by Women in Management, Sri Lanka, further demonstrating my expertise in media, communications, leadership, and digital strategy.
I have also spoken at events hosted by the Rotary Club of Colombo, engaging with civic leaders on issues of media ethics, digital transformation, and women’s leadership. These engagements reflect my commitment to knowledge-sharing, mentorship, and elevating Sri Lanka’s voice on global platforms.
Recognition and Leadership
My work has been recognised both locally and internationally, reflecting collective progress for women in media and leadership:
- Top50 Professional and Career Women’s Global Award (2023): Leadership in Digital Media in Sri Lanka (Presented by Women in Management, IFC (a World Bank Group), and Australia Aid)
- Sri Lanka Vanitha-Abhimana Award (2025)
- Legendary Woman Award (2025): For pioneering digital media in Sri Lanka
- Media Personality of the Year: Golden Business Awards 2025, Sri Lanka
Each award represents the strength of women shaping media, innovation, and leadership across Sri Lanka and beyond.
She Can: My Voice for Women
My weekly column, She Can, published in The Sun (Daily Mirror), is more than journalism; it is advocacy. Through this platform, I highlight women leaders, entrepreneurs, artists, activists, and changemakers whose stories inspire possibility.
Being included in the coffee-table publication Daughters of the Nation, alongside trailblazing leaders such as the world’s first female Prime Minister, Sirimavo Bandaranaike; former President of Sri Lanka, Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga; and the country’s first female Group CEO of a conglomerate, Kasturi Chellaraja, stands as one of the most meaningful honours of my career.
Leadership Beyond the Editorial Desk
I contribute to leadership networks advancing diversity and inclusion:
- Executive Committee, Women in Management (UK)
- Women in Management Global Executive Leadership Committee (2025–2027)
- Committee Member: Governance, Finance and Risk, Asian Communications Network (UK)
- Member, Women’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce (Sri Lanka)
A Voice That Bridges Worlds
My journey, from law to journalism, from Colombo to London, from media to strategy, has reaffirmed one truth; storytelling connects us. I remain committed to telling stories that matter, leading with empathy, and creating space for others to be heard. If my journey proves anything, it is that when passion meets purpose, impact transcends borders.
