The Hindi teaser of Dacoit: Ek Prem Katha was launched at the Hotel Novotel on December 17, in the presence of actors Mrunal Thakur, Adivi Sesh and Anurag Kashyap, and director Shaneil Deo. This is Adivi Sesh’s second film in Hindi after Major (2022), which was based on the life of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, who died while fighting terrorists during the 26/11 terror attacks.

To begin with, Adivi Sesh hailed Dhurandhar and declared that it thoroughly deserves to be India’s biggestfilm at present!” when he was asked about the phenomenal response to the film, which he said he wanted to watch again.

He said, “I even tweeted about Dhurandhar. Aditya Dhar, the director, is a good friend. I too had researched so much about 26/11 and the entire Black Tornado operation for Major, but to know the Pakistani side of things was a new experience even for me.”

His tweet was, “Loved #Dhurandhar! Late to the party in watching the country’s biggest film but it’s so well done. It’s an amazing achievement from you @AdityaDharFilms sir to show so many grays with subtlety. Absolutely international presentation on such a relevant topic. As someone who researched 26/11 so much for Major, it was an entirely new experience for me to see how the ISI’s handlers were empowered by the Lyari underworld.”

He further added, “My heart broke and my blood boiled when I saw that. Superb performances from the entire cast, everyone from @RanveerOfficial garu to @ActorMadhavan Garu. My favorite was undoubtedly the magnificent #AkshayeKhanna ji as Rehman Dakait and Rakesh Bedi ji as Jameel. The extraordinary music, International cinematography, and overall craft made for a memorable experience. I’ll be watching it again soon.”

The teaser was met with wild cheers by the audience. Thakur said that it was a great experience to do actual action, with a lot of it from inside a car. Later, while chatting with the media, she showed this writer a small injury on her forearm and quipped that it was from a part of the action and she kept reminding Sesh (whose surname is Adivi) that he had left this mark on her arm.

Adding that it needed effort to maintain the depth and intensity when shooting a bi-lingual like this (the film has been shot in Telugu and Hindi), she stated that a great script and director made it easy to keep up the voltage. She stated that she was trying to do films of diverse genres and was pretty excited about her forthcoming David Dhawan comedy, Hai Jawani To Ishq Hona Hai.

Anurag Kashyap admitted he made ‘different’ cinema because he was incapable of making mass cinema like Dhurandhar or any other cult commercial movie. He had come to Mumbai to be involved somehow in cinema and was grateful that he had achieved his aim.

Adivi Sesh was asked why he decided to clash the release date of Dacoit with Dhurandhar 2 on March 19, 2026, when he knew the power of the film. He shrugged and answered, “The release dates are in the hands of producers. But I have a feeling that Aditya will postpone the release as he will work on it after the fab reception!”
