Cricket has continually evolved to match the pace and preferences of its fans, from traditional five-day Tests to One-Day Internationals (ODIs), T20s, and now even shorter formats like T10 and the Sixes. Among these innovations, the Hong Kong Cricket Sixes has carved a unique place in the sport’s history.
This year’s edition, scheduled from November 7–9 at Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground, will feature 12 international teams divided into four pools:
- Pool A: South Africa (A1), Afghanistan (A2), Nepal (A3)
- Pool B: Australia (B1), England (B2), UAE (B3)
- Pool C: India (C1), Pakistan (C2), Kuwait (C3)
- Pool D: Sri Lanka (D1), Bangladesh (D2), Hong Kong, China (D3)
Each match in the Sixes format features six players per side, with six overs per innings. Every bowler delivers one over, except the wicketkeeper, and one bowler can bowl two overs. Over three days, fans will witness 29 fast-paced games, with quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals split across Cup, Plate, and Bowl competitions.
Now in its 33rd year, the Hong Kong Sixes has hosted global superstars and provided a launchpad for emerging talent. This year, organizers promise not only thrilling cricket but also a vibrant fan experience with a Community Fan Park and inclusive outreach programs.
Burji Shroff, chairperson of Cricket Hong Kong, China, emphasized the broader significance of the event. “The Hong Kong Sixes represent more than just cricket; they embrace our community spirit and the shared passion we have for the sport, as well as a celebration of Hong Kong itself,” he said. “This tournament brings together people from all walks of life, fostering camaraderie and unity among fans and players alike.”

With Sony Sports as our broadcast partners, we are expecting a record global television and OTT audience.”

The event will also showcase inclusivity through the Jockey Club Hong Kong Cricket Sixes Community Programme, offering masterclasses, cultural booths, and mini-cricket experiences. Free tickets will be distributed to underprivileged groups and people with disabilities, ensuring wider community participation.
With world number one India, number two Australia, and Hong Kong, China among the participating nations, the 2025 Hong Kong Sixes is poised to deliver its trademark mix of cricketing spectacle and cultural celebration.
